The Cycle Mobility Summit, one of the highlights of Dutch Cycling Week, offers an extensive and inspiring program entirely dedicated to the future of bicycle mobility. The event, which focuses on knowledge sharing and innovation, owes much of its success to the active involvement of the Utrecht Bike Community (UBC). Their role in driving the program and facilitating high-quality sessions has proved invaluable.

Program Highlights

The day will begin with an informal walk-in, followed by an official opening led by chairman of the day Bram Douwes. The program will kick off with a kick-off of the Cycle Mobility Summit, followed by a panel discussion presenting the results of the Elemental study. This research, led by Maarten van Bemmel, examines how cycling can contribute to accelerating the transition to sustainable and healthy mobility. In this discussion, insights will also be shared by prominent speakers such as Marco te Brömmelstroet and Kobe Broos.

A networking lunch will be followed by the presentation of the long-awaited Cyclists Museum, an initiative of the UBC. This presentation, led by Ernest van den Bemd and Kasper Hanenbergh, highlights the rich Dutch cycling culture and its impact on society.

The afternoon is filled with specialized master classes, including "Cycling Infra" by experts from Sweco and Witteveen+Bos. This session offers in-depth insights into the latest developments in cycling infrastructure, aimed at improving cycling safety and experience.

In addition, the program includes pitches on innovations in micro-mobility, a master class on the transition from car to bicycle by Goedopweg, and inspiration sessions such as "Leasing the Bicycle" by Leaseconvenience and "Cycling and Health." These sessions provide valuable information and strategies for policymakers and companies looking to encourage bicycle use.

The day will conclude with an inspiration session on "The bicycle's leap of scale," highlighting the perspective of employers, government and bicycle companies. Speakers such as Ingrid Thijssen of VNO-NCW and André van Schie, deputy of the Province of Utrecht, will share their visions on the integration of cycling in future mobility strategies.

The Role of Utrecht Bike Community

The Utrecht Bike Community played a crucial role in the creation of this ambitious program. Their expertise and network contributed to the substantive strength of the sessions and to bringing together leading experts and organizations from the cycling industry. Thanks to their efforts, the Cycle Mobility Summit was able to present a program that is both innovative and relevant to today's mobility challenges.

UBC's commitment to promoting cycling as a sustainable mode of transportation contributed to a day full of inspiring ideas and new insights. Their active involvement in shaping the program highlights their important role in the transition to healthier and more sustainable mobility.

During the day, participants will also have the opportunity to schedule speed dates with specialists at various times. These speed dates offer additional opportunities for networking and knowledge exchange, and are a valuable addition to the program. The day will eventually conclude festively with drinks, where participants can continue networking in an informal setting.

Thanks to the dedication of the Utrecht Bike Community, the Cycle Mobility Summit has grown into a leading event that puts cycling firmly on the map as the key to sustainable mobility.
