The International Cargo Bike Festival (ICBF) joins the Dutch Cycling Week. After the successful edition in Amsterdam in 2023, the organizers will this year move to the cycling city par excellence: Utrecht. The Dom city is known as one of the most bicycle-friendly cities in the world, where the cargo bike is already an integral part of the streetscape. In 2024, ICBF will take place on Friday 25 and Saturday 26 October in the Expo Hall in the Beatrix Building of the Royal Dutch Jaarbeurs.
Jos Sluijsmans, director and initiator of the International Cargo Bike Festival: "We are looking forward to organizing the ICBF in world bike city Utrecht. For many of our international exhibitors and visitors, this will be an extra incentive to participate. We are also very impressed with the ambitions of the Dutch Cycling Week to promote bicycle use in the broadest sense of the word as a knowledge platform and activation initiative. We would like to be part of that and make a contribution."
Ralf van Heugten of the Dutch Cycling Week: "The cargo bike plays a crucial role in the bicycle mobility of the future. Just look at companies like CoolBlue, Cyclone and the hundreds of food delivery services you see cycling in many Dutch cities on a daily basis. The arrival of this event is a valuable addition to the program of Dutch Cycling Week. The ICBF contributes to showcasing the possibilities offered by the cargo bike. The attention for the cargo bike as an option for efficient and sustainable transportation stimulates awareness of and impact on bicycle mobility. This collaboration therefore fits like a glove."
The Cycle Mobility Summit, taking place on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2024, will also focus on the role of the (cargo) bike in the mobility of the future. With the addition of the ICBF, policymakers, businesses and consumers interested in the applicability of the cargo bike can learn even more about it.
ICBF will be a stand-alone event within the umbrella of Dutch Cycling Week in 2024. More information about the event and opportunities regarding participation in ICBF will soon be available on the organizer's revamped website.
